Corporate Meetings

Scenario:

Much collaborative opportunity is often never realized in business meetings because being the first to speak means disclosing one’s position, and this invariably changes what others will say, usually leading them to make more conservative (safer) statements. Simultaneous disclosure usually leads to even more conservative statements, since each person can only assume that others will reveal the bare minimum about their positions. If QR were the first step of every such meeting, then mutual goals could be identified without any of this unfavorable disclosure.

At the outset of an important meeting between several company heads, each uses QR protocol to declare what sort of collaborative action they should take.

Your Message:

  • Private Message: "Our firm, Logistical Sampling Inc., would like to work with Mercer Trucking Inc. and Global Construction LLC on highway safety issues"
  • Public Label: "Logistical Sampling Inc."

Sample Network:

Based on the results, you can see that the suggested collaboration has a good chance of success among the triangle composed of Mercer Trucking, Global Construction LLC, and Logistical Sampling Inc., and should probably be explicitly proposed. Most of the other messages have only weak correlation, so it's good for their respective firms that they were never disclosed.
